Open tools
Small tools we publish under the MIT licence. Each one is on GitHub, with its README and tests.
tally-check
A small tool that compares an old export with a new export and prints a tie-out sheet: row counts, column totals, and optionally which records went missing or changed.
- Input
- Two sources. Each is a folder of CSV files or a SQLite database file.
- Output
- A tie-out sheet with PASS, WARN or FAIL for each table and an overall line. It can be written as a CSV or a markdown file.
- What it does not do
- It only reports. It does not migrate, fix or repair anything, and it never writes to your data.
- Runs on
- Python 3.10 or newer, with no dependencies. One file.
- Licence
- MIT.
mail-dns-check
A command-line tool that checks the SPF, DKIM, DMARC and MX records of your domain and tells you, in plain English, what to fix.
- Input
- One or more domains, or a file with one domain per line.
- Output
- OK, WARN or FAIL for each check, with a Fix line and the record to add where possible. It can also print JSON.
- What it does not do
- It does not change your DNS, send any mail or read any mailbox. Only ordinary public DNS lookups leave your machine.
- Runs on
- Python 3.10 or newer. One file.
- Licence
- MIT.
